While we had known each other for a few months, we officially met for the first time at the 92nd annual National FFA Convention and Expo. We planned to meet outside FFA Mall, and we were surrounded by thousands of high school FFA members. Our first in person chat was accompanied by a young man pushing around a potted plant behind us (that sure gave us some good laughs!!) We walked around the convention center looking at plants, talking up a storm, and of course, indulging on wonderful (and free!) Culver's frozen custard. We met again 3 times that week, and Hollie booked her first flight to Wyoming! The rest, as they say, is history.
While our love grew stronger everyday, 1086 miles of distance was conquered. In our first 6 months of dating, we had travelled more than 10,000 miles. As that two free bag policy was too difficult to resist, we tried our hardest to see each other twice a month. We came to love the airport, even though half the time we cried at them. Through the tens of thousands of miles travelled, we persevered. We proved long distance works. Our love fought hard, and won. We would like to apologize to our families for using thousands of hours of data on FaceTime for those times when we couldn't be together!
Under a 350-500 year old oak tree, we made plans for forever. Hunter made plans with Hollie's wonderfully gifted photographer friend Lauren to take pictures on the Moore Ranch. What Hollie didn't know was that Hunter's boots were filled with surprises. With a letter flowing with polaroid memories and rose petals, Hunter reminded Hollie of how much he loved her! After Hollie raced through the letter, Hunter got down on one knee and asked Hollie to be his forever. After many phone calls, we celebrated our engagement with a wonderful dinner at Wings & More! (Yes, Hollie ate wings for her first meal with her engagement ring!) We have been so thankful for all of your support and well wishes on our journey to forever.
