We met through mutual friends in college when Hayes came down to Saint Simons to visit. We didn’t talk much that first night, mainly because Hayes was being a bit of a scaredy cat. Eventually, though, he worked up the courage to ask for my phone number, and we started texting on and off. In October of 2022, I suddenly needed a wedding date and decided to ask Hayes. He didn’t hesitate for a second, he jumped at the invitation and drove down to be my plus-one. We had such an amazing weekend that by the end of it, we pretty much knew this was it (give or take a little denial). Then in January of 2023, I got a job at Rock Eagle 4-H Center, and we found ourselves living only 30 minutes apart. Taking that as a very obvious sign, we officially started dating and we haven’t looked back since.
