We met the summer of 2002. Gabe was working with Holley's brother, Gary. Gabe was going camping with him on a trip with several other people. While camping, Gabe and Holley found themselves up still sitting around the campfire talking while everyone went to sleep. When the trip was over, we spoke over the phone a few times and tried to meet up when our friends were gathering but we continued to have missed connections. Truthfully, Holley thought Gabe was a little shy and she wondered if he was really into her and Gabe said he didn't know if she was into him. Holley moved away but they always asked through mutual friends how the other was doing. Fifteen years later, Holley moved back to Brentwood. Gary was going out to a group dinner with Holley and brought Gabe. Holley will never forget the moment Gabe arrived and turned that corner. Gabe had a little smirk when he saw her. After dinner, we all went to Holley's to swim. We found ourselves in the exact situation we were in fifteen years ago...everyone asleep and we were still awake talking. We spoke on the phone a lot after that and finally had a first date in September 2017. After the date, Gabe told Holley, "I waited for you for fifteen years and now I have my dream girl." So sometimes you can avoid fate but true fate will always find you.
