Questions you may have.
Question

What island do we fly to?

Answer

Our wedding will be on the North Shore of the island of O’ahu. You will need to fly to Honolulu which is the only airport on the island. The North Shore is a 45 minute drive from Waikiki/Honolulu with no traffic. I recommend a taxi from the Airport to where you are staying as (depending on the time you land) Lyft/Uber might take a while to find a driver if they ever do. Keep in mind some Taxis only take cash.

Question

Do we need to stay on the North Shore?

Answer

No definitely not. If you choose to stay in the city (Honolulu or Waikiki) just keep in mind it is a bit of a drive to the wedding venue on the north (45 minutes) but the city does have all the activities so It probably is better to stay there if you’re planning on making a vacation out of it. We are looking into Shuttling our guests from one of the hotels in Waikiki :)

Question

Do we need to do anything else before or after the wedding?

Answer

Hawaii is asking for a Negative COVID test taken NO MORE than 72 hours before your flight from a Hawaii approved location, EVEN IF you have already been vaccinated. Hawaii approved locations include Kaiser, Walgreen's, and City health (done at some airports for $20 but you get in 48 hours) but you have to make sure it is the specific test Hawaii is asking for. When you book your flights a lot of airlines are good about sending you the information you need and even links to check. You need to make a "Safe Travels" account which is where you will upload your negative test results and add in your flight details. 24 hours before your flight you need to answer the health questions on the "Safe Travels" account so it can generate a QR code for you. Also print out your test results just incase you may not need it but incase you do its good to be prepared. If you do not complete these requirement they will ask you to quarantine for 10 days. NO TEST NEEDED TO RETURN TO USA

Question

What if we are recovered from COVID but it has not been more than 90 days?

Answer

If you had COVID less than 90 days ago but are now recovered (meaning no symptoms and cleared by your doctor) you can still travel but there are extra steps. There is a chance you can still test positive for up to 90 days after having COVID. Because of this re-testing would be pointless for your flight. You must get an exemption from the state of Hawaii from having to test. First have your doctor write a letter stating that if you re-test you might test positive because it hasn't been 90 days. Go to https://ag.hawaii.gov/travelexemption and at the bottom of the page click apply for exemption. It will take you to an appsheets website and ask you to sign in using one of the options. You can use the google option even if you don't have a google email address, it will still send it to your correct email. Once you log in and answer the questions (make sure to follow all rules) upload your positive test result that was done when you were sick (less than 90 days ago) and your Doctors note.

Question

What do I do once I get my exemption?

Answer

Once you get your exemption approved it will give you an "Approval ID". You must enter that ID into your "Safe Travels" account. To do so you need to go into Flights, where you entered in all your flight information and edit your flight. At the very bottom there is a spot that says Exemptions, you must enter your approval ID there with the exemption type as "Quarantine Exemption Approval ID" and click verify so it can verify your ID. If it doesn't accept it it could be because your name doesn't match exactly to what they have on the exemption letter. To edit your name on Safe Travel you must go to profile and edit your name to match exactly. Once your ID is verified you are done and able to fly.

Question

What days are you staying?

Answer

We will be flying in the 19th and staying until the 26th.

Question

Do you have a wedding registry?

Answer

We do not. We already live together and feel we have everything we need and, since our wedding is a destination wedding, we felt it easier to not have guest bring gifts so we don’t have to figure out how to bring them all back. We did set up a Honeymoon fund here under the “Registry” tab to help us with our honeymoon. We would really appreciate our gift to go towards our honeymoon instead. If you would still like to gift us something else then we ask that you give it to us in person in San Jose or mail it to our house whichever is easiest.

Question

How do we get to the venue?

Answer

We will be trying to provide a shuttle for our guests to the venue from a hotel in Waikiki. Some may want to drive themselves, for instance if you would like flexibility on when to come and go. Depending on where you are staying you might need to drive across the island. It is a beautiful drive if you have to but sometimes with traffic it can be a long one. I recommend giving yourself at least an hour travel time.
