Colonial Williamsburg is a charming “living museum” with cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriages, and 18th-century buildings. Stroll along Duke of Gloucester Street, tour the Governor’s Palace, or take a walk through the beautiful gardens. If you prefer something more low-key, there are boutiques, cafes, breweries, and wineries in nearby Merchants Square — all just steps from the Williamsburg Inn!
Virginia is home to many amazing wineries, and several are just a short drive from the Williamsburg Inn — including Williamsburg Winery, New Kent Winery, Gauthier Vineyard, and Saude Creek Vineyards. If you don't have a car for the weekend, the Williamsburg Winery also has a tasting room located right on Duke of Gloucester Street in Colonial Williamsburg.
There are two ways to experience Jamestown, which is located just a 15 minute drive from the Williamsburg Inn: Jamestown Settlement – This living museum features full-scale replicas of the original English ships, a reconstructed fort, and a Powhatan village. Historic Jamestowne – This is the actual site of the first permanent English settlement in America. Archaeological remains, the original church tower, and a museum offer a look at the real history behind the colony.
