Our Engagement

2/10/2020

In Februrary of 2020 we took a trip to Thailand which not only changed our relationship status but gave us a new found love for east Asia. We started our adventure in Chiang Mai visiting ancient temples, playing with elephants, and discovering our new favorite Thai dish, Khao Soi. On day 4, we made it to Railay which quickly became our favorite spot in Thailand. Our second day there we got to experience some of the most epic rock climbing in the world! Climbing to the top and looking out over turquoise waters and islands in the distance is something neither of us will ever forget. That evening, we had dinner in a cave on the beach watching the sunset.... I don't think I've ever experienenced a more perfect moment.... until maybe 20 minutes later :) After dinner, we walked down the beach under the stars and as some stroke of fate, everyone left and we were the only 2 people on the entire beach. Holden then got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever. <3

When We Met

July 2015

Nicole and I had “almost met” more times than I can count for several years before we had ever spoken to each other. From mutual friends to the bars we frequented (and worked at in Nicole’s case), we had been running in almost perfect parallel an inch apart for years. When Nicole and I finally did meet in the summer of 2015, we became inseparable. We both loved music, the outdoors, and dogs with disproportionate bodies. We spent most of our time going to concerts and trying every version of fried chicken in a 100 mile radius of Dallas. But even after we had started dating, there are still moments I would define as truly “meeting” Nicole. “Meeting” Nicole is experiencing her unwavering determination to watch the Perseid meteor shower after driving 3 hours only to find that almost every park in Oklahoma was closed due to flooding – don’t worry, the fifth park we checked was open so it all worked out. It’s watching her try to learn how to use an engine hoist because I needed an extra set of hands. Or being “navigator” when we got lost on a scooter in a Thai jungle while I swore we had “enough gas to at least get back to where the signs are in English.” Throughout our relationship, there is a consistent theme of enjoying the unknown – with each trip, new hobby, new passion, new dog (or chickens) Nicole and I were given the opportunity to introduce different parts of ourselves to each other. And with that idea in mind, we are very excited to “meet” each other as husband and wife for the first time in May of 2021.
