We met in New Orleans in May 2022 at Tyson and Emory’s wedding. (Tyson is Holden’s brother and Alex’s friend from college.) Alex was talking with Tyson’s mom, Lanie, when Holden walked up. As Alex remembers it: “I was immediately struck by her lively energy and spunk—she had a big smile, excitement, and total confidence entering into the group. I thought, 'Who is this woman, and where is her date?'” Eventually, they ended up on a rooftop in downtown New Orleans, where Aunt Leslie subtly suggested Alex get Holden’s number—a welcome encouragement, as Alex was nervous. They spent the rest of the weekend trying to sneakily hang out (flirt) without Tyson noticing and stayed up talking and laughing on the hotel porch until 5 a.m. after the wedding. (Holden caught the bouquet!!) They went back to their respective homes in Greensboro and Raleigh, and after some texting (but not much—one early thing they had in common was poor text communication), they ran into each other again at a concert in Raleigh. Alex spotted Holden from across the venue and shouted her name—after seeing the same excited reaction he’d fallen for when they met, he was confident the interest was mutual. Alex asked Holden out the following weekend, and from there, they spent the next year traveling back and forth between Greensboro and Durham to enjoy their shared interest in the pool, beach, sports, Carolina games, breweries, and anything active or outdoors. In October 2023, Alex moved to Greensboro, and they’ve been enjoying life in the same city ever since. - - - We’re so excited to celebrate with our favorite people back in New Orleans where it all began! Thanks for making the time to come and be a part of our wedding weekend!
