How We Met

2.28.2016

As most couples now-a-days do, Ian and Sarah actually met on a dating app! This particular one was called Coffee Meets Bagel and only allows one match per day AND requires at least one connection in common. They are both very thankful for those connections! As luck would have it, they actually worked only a few feet from each other on the same floor at The Home Depot's corporate offices! What a small world it can be. They chatted for a few weeks on the app then decided to meet on a date. Sarah saw Ian around the office a few times but quickly ducked away as she didn't want an awkward first introduction at work. Unfortunately, Sarah got sick a few days before the first date and had to cancel. She was terrified that Ian would think she was just flaking on him, so she immediately rescheduled for the next week. Little did either of them know that February 28, 2016 would come to mean so much to both of them. From that date on, Sarah & Ian got to know each other more and became inseparable over the next few months... and here we are four years later getting married!

The Proposal

09.10.2019

After dating for three and a half years, living together, and buying a house together.... the next logical step EVERYONE was waiting for was The Proposal. Ian had been thinking about it for months and months, however purchasing a home together put his plans on hold. Mid-Summer 2019 Sarah found a great flight deal to Paris and Ian knew he had his chance. They went on planning the September trip like any other - where to go, what to see, what to eat/drink. Sarah and Ian love to travel (it is one of the things that solidified the relationship for them both - great travel buddies!!) so it didn't raise any alarm bells for Sarah. The night before the trip, Sarah came down with a cold (see a pattern here?) and Ian worried his plans would be ruined. Thankfully, Sarah had lots of cold medicine and started to feel better quickly. After a wonderful first day in the city, they decided to go to a cafe for dinner and go see the Eiffel Tower afterwards. After a wonderful dinner & bottle of Red, they began the stroll over to Trocadero Gardens, which is a beautiful spot to view the tower. When they arrived, Ian freaked out at how many people where there - hundreds! He was NOT expecting that much of an audience. So he stalled and they took some photos and admired the tower. As they started to walk towards the tower, Ian saw his chance. They stopped halfway down the gardens and were just enjoying the night (still no alarm bells for Sarah). After a few minutes, Ian said "This is so awesome. Just so awesome." Sarah wasn't surprised - that was her reaction the first time she saw Paris, too! Then before she knew what was happening, Ian got down on one knee and said "This night would be even more awesome if you married me." and pulled out the ring. Sarah was SHOCKED (and honestly doesn't exactly remember what was said). Right after she said yes, the sparkling lights went off. They went to get champagne and savored the moment!
