Caelie’s older sister, Cara, also attended Fairfield and happily took both girls under her wing. Long before that, Michael had grown up in Mahwah, New Jersey, where he and Cara were very close friends. Years later, while Michael was studying for his boards and Corrine was earning her master’s degree, Cara hosted a birthday celebration at her parents’ home in Mahwah. That night, Michael and Corrine finally found themselves in the same place at the same time. They talked, laughed, and instantly hit it off. A few months later, in the summer, Cara hosted her now-husband Patrick’s St. Patrick's Day themed birthday party, where Michael and Corrine reconnected.
