Our story begins in 2017 at Northern Illinois University, where we first crossed paths in grad school. Scott and I were athletic training graduate assistants - Scott with wrestling, and me with football and track. Between long days, and shared friends, a friendship naturally grew. After Scott graduated, he moved to South Carolina for a job at Presbyterian College, I stayed behind to finish my program. When I graduated the following year, Scott returned to Dekalb to help me pack up and move to North Carolina for my new role at Methodist University. What started as friendship soon turned into something more. We spent the next few years doing long distance and making the most of our quick weekend trips. Then the time finally came and Scott moved to Raleigh. Our weekend trips turned into weekly trivia, paddle boarding on falls lake, cooking together, and exploring Raleigh. Fast forward to this March, during a hike in Shenandoah National Park, Scott asked me to marry him. Of course I said "yes"!
