Due to the ups and downs of the pandemic, it seemed like a smart option. We also had concerns about the health and physical ability of some of our loved ones and did not want them to feel like they had to risk their safety to be there. To ensure that we would have as easy a day as possible, we kept the wedding party as small as we could.
Our officiant was Milla Hoeger Green, Al’s oldest sister. She has been with us from the beginning of our relationship. It was clear from the start that it was her approval and blessing that we would need as our relationship became more serious. She has always been lovely and supportive of our relationship, and never more so than when she became an ordained member of the clergy in order to officiate our wedding.
Katherine Greene. Katie has been with me through it all, starting back during Middle School when as gymnasts, friends and home room buddies, we would rehearse our vault landings while we waited for it to be time for our first period class to start. She has been my dear friend and support, sharing laughter, tears, fears, embarrassments, successes and failures for over 20 years. She is a true gem. And she almost got me to the ceremony on time 😉
Yes! We are very excited to be sealed in the temple! We believe that a legal marriage is for this life, and that a marriage in the temple continues after this life and forever. Because this is Al’s second marriage, he went through a legal divorce process to end his previous marriage. There are steps to take for a temple divorce, which we are now in the process of completing. Once that has happened, we will be “sealed” or married to each other in the temple for the eternities. If you are curious to learn more about the LDS temple, this article includes a brief description and a video that even features the Boston LDS Temple where we will be sealed some day soon! https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/comeuntochrist/article/temples
YES! We plan on having a BBQ in our yard later in the year to celebrate our new family and our new home!
Yes! We took the week after our wedding to go to Puerto Rico. It was warm, beautiful and we almost decided to not come back! Both because we didn’t want to, and also because they canceled our return flight!
Jen is adjusting to her new role as step-mother very well! It’s almost like she has an advanced degree on how to raise children! The kids are also adjusting well, though I think that has a lot to do with how happy their dad has been. While the four of us are still learning how to live together, there are fewer and fewer speedbumps every day.
