we will not accept the false comfort of the spirit of religion for he knows only how to work hard and check boxes, and drain hearts we will not flirt with fear and will bow our minds’ knees to only one power: King Jesus we declare all conversations with fear ended we will not take regret into account our eyes will remain forward on the promises of what can be ours through the blood not what might have been ours through perfection we commit to simple lives clutter of the home and schedule and heart makes weary the lighthearted we choose the steady, easy life we will be vulnerable more then anyone else we know for vulnerability is the keyhole for the cross to bring wholeness we will be adventurous remaining alert to the poison of stagnancy, our lives will be wheels up and full of destination-less road trips we will be funny nothing is too heavy for joy even in tears, we invite laughter to be our companion for hills and valleys we will walk in purity, not perfection above reproach, but not above mistakes victory is the main course, shame the fly we swat away we will be obsessed with the beauty of the man called Jesus. he is unashamedly our everything our pearl of great price we will be young in sarcasm and mature in grace adorning what is good in others and releasing what is unfinished we will not apologize for weakness or try and finish our unfinished-ness we will rest in the processes measuring growth with a steady, gentle hand we assassinate self criticism trading our mirrors for the eyes of our lovers we invite the Father to prune and renew and we invite each other to correct and encourage we will not restrain our love we will nurture wonder into mature affection invading every inch of our reality infatuated lovers until Jesus returns
We both followed different dreams to the Big Island. Our mothers (who were college roommates) saw that we were in Hawaii together on Facebook and connected us! We grabbed some poke and ended up talking for ten hours whilst on a spontaneous all-day adventure. When we finally went home at 10pm that night, we were both thinking the same thing: "What was that?!?!?!" Fast forward through 8 months of building friendship - we finally started dating and spent two weeks together before Franklin led a two-month outreach to Africa. Spotty FaceTime calls and Spotify playlists became vessels for our growing affection. We traded love songs and poetry and had countless hours of deep convo. Our love grew and we both decided we were all in! On his first day back in the States, Franklin proposed at a reservoir in Colorado Springs, Colorado. We were surprised that evening by our dear friends at a local Indian restaurant! In March we will be joined by family and friends, new and old, to tie the knot in a backyard in Austin before heading to live in South Asia! We cannot wait to celebrate with you!
