Lecce is located in southern Italy in the heel of the boot (the region is called Puglia).

How do I get to Lecce?
Answer
There are a few ways you can get to Lecce and it depends on how much money you'd like to spend getting there and/or how much time you have. ROME AIRPORT: Flying into Rome is probably the most cost effective but potentially the slowest route. If you'd like to fly into Rome, just head to the Roma Stazione and book a Trenitalia FR or FA train to Lecce. This train is approximately 5 hours and will bring you right into the heart of Lecce where you can easily navigate to your accommodations if you plan on staying in the city. SALENTO/BRINDISI AIRPORT: This is the fastest option as it is the nearest airport to Lecce. Once you land you can either take a 40 minute cab to Lecce or head to the Brindisi train station and take the Trenitalia FR train to the Lecce Stazione (30 mins). BARI: Another option is flying into Bari. Once you land, you can take a cab to the Bari train station and jump on the Trenitalia REG train to Lecce (1H52M).

There are many options for accommodations in Lecce. Head over to the TRAVEL tab for a few suggestions. FYI - Lecce is a heavy B&B town so if you aren't finding hotel options you love, definitely check out what is available by searching for local bed and breakfast options OR on Airbnb or VRBO. We also have a few places reserved if you need help. And, if you're looking for something to split a place with we would be happy to help matchmake!

Do I need a car?
Answer
Short answer: no. If you are staying within the city of Lecce, it is entirely walkable. There are, however, many wonderful beaches and sightseeing destinations nearby that are quick to get to if you plan on spending a few days in Italy in which case we would highly recommend renting a car.
