Spencer and I met as children; Spencer is my cousin Brandon Brown's best friend. Growing up with our 4-year age gap, I was always considered the "annoying little cousin" that Spencer and Brandon had to let tag along on ATV rides at Morgan and Donna's camp in Arcadia. When I came home from school during Hurricane Michael, Brandon brought Spencer to local watering hole Point Ybel on October 10th, 2019. I was 20, Spencer was 24, and the age gap didn't seem so big anymore. I guess I was also less annoying because he asked me to be his girlfriend March 17th of 2019 on my dad Charlie's SeaHunter... I thought I already was considering when he asked me we were on a family vacation in the Bahamas, but that's neither here nor there. Spencer and I did long distance as I was finishing my bachelor's degree at FSU. I graduated in 2020, moved home, and the rest is history!

Planning a proposal for a girl who is undoubtedly smarter than you are is very difficult. However, a window opened up to catch her off guard after our best friends Brandon and Taylor got engaged in Costa Rica. The following week was the longest week of my life, trying to orchestrate the best surprise of all time. Madi’s closest friends and family will always have my utmost respect because of the actions they all took. Madi and I were in New Orleans with Charlie and Merinda the previous week, so I couldn’t have any notifications on my phone. I will always have Kinsey, Aunt Rachel, Suzanne, Heather, Lindsay, Taylor, Charlie and Merinda, Kathleen, and Kevin to thank for pulling off the best proposal I could have ever imagined. The dock on Useppa where I asked the love of my life to marry me might be gone, but our love could never be washed away. Forever and always, Madi and Spencer
