Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Lauren Hobbs and Paul Lambert
Lauren's family has lived here for generations. Here are some of our favorite things!
Lake Walk (or run)

Lake Walk (or run)

Lake Geneva, WI 53147

Lauren has run hundreds of miles here. Paul has run many miles here. And Lauren and her mom once circumnavigated the 20+ mile path that circles the lake. This public path parallels the water and is another way to explore the history and homes of Geneva Lake while getting a bit more exercise than one would on the boat tour. It is our favorite in the fall! Explore as much or as little as you would like. We recommend stopping for treats from the waterfront shops along the way (George Williams Campus shop, Skips in the Bay, Kilwins in Lake Geneva, etc.)

Boating

Boating

Lake Geneva, WI 53147

Boats of all types including kayaks and stand up paddle boards are available for rental around the lake. Depending on whether the Hobbses have their boat in the water by May, free boating may be available, too!

Yerkes Observatory

373 W Geneva St, Williams Bay, WI 53191
, (262) 245-5555

Largest refracting telescope in the WORLD. This is where Lauren's parents first became interested in each other and also where Lauren's grandfather still works as an astrophysicist. It is also affiliated with the University of Chicago (where both Lauren and Paul went to medical school). And it is also an awesome building and interesting monument completely on its own. Yerkes Observatory is open to the public every Saturday throughout the year. Our expert, engaging and entertaining tour guides provide a fascinating program covering the Observatory’s history, architectural detail, astronomical research, and a look inside the 90-foot dome at the 40-inch refractor, still the largest lens-type telescope in the world. Mar 24 to May 26, 2018, the building opens at 9:45 am and closes at 1:30 pm. Tours begin at 10 am, 11 am and 12 Noon. $10 per person for adults and $8 per person for ages 6 - 17. For availability and pricing, call 262-245-5555, extension 825.

Lake Geneva Cruise Line

812 Wrigley Drive, Lake Geneva, WI 53147
, (262) 248-6206

We originally talked about having our reception on one of the boats and Lauren's dad used to play the piano on board as a summer job. Lake Geneva, just 75 miles northwest of Chicago, has been a resort town since shortly after the Civil War, when wealthy Chicago families with names such as Wrigley, Maytag, Sears and Schwinn began building summer estates here. The homes are beautiful and there are several different tour options where you can see the homes from the water. Full Lake Tour Information 2 hours – aboard the Walworth April 29 – June 9 Tour times: 1:00p.m. – Daily Adult: $32.00 (Weekdays) $35.00 (Weekends and Holidays) Senior: $30.00 (Weekdays) $33.00 (Weekends and Holidays) Youth & Children: $18.00 (Weekdays) $20.00 (Weekends and Holidays) 262-248-6206 • 800-558-5911

New Glarus Brewing Company

2400 Wisconsin 69, New Glarus, WI 53574
, (608) 527-5850

Don't worry if you don't have time to visit! Their beers will be featured at our reception. We each have a glass from tasting after visiting with some of our medical school friends. New Glarus is a Wisconsin staple that is only sold in the state. The Spotted Cow is their most well-known beer but we recommend a flight! The brewery is run by an enthusiastic couple, Daniel & Deb Carey, who have successfully combined business management and brewing professionalism. Our philosophy is based on individuality, cooperation and the employment of 100% natural ingredients to produce world-class, handcrafted beers for our friends in Wisconsin. Cheers!

Staller Estate Winery

W8896 County Road A, Delavan, WI 53115
, (608) 883-2100

Don't worry if you don't have to make it here, either! Their wines will be featured at our reception.

Elegant Farmer

1545 Main Street, Mukwonago, WI 53149
, (262) 363-6770

This is where Lauren's family gets cherries for their cherry pies but they are actually most well known for the apple pie in a bag. The Elegant Farmer is world famous for its signature item, Apple Pie Baked in a Paper Bag. Named Best Pie in America by The Wall Street Journal, it also beat out a celebrity chef's pie in an episode of The Food Network show "Throwdown! With Bobby Flay."
