FAQs

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

The dress code is Dressy Casual/Semi-Formal. Please avoid jeans and casual wear. We found this article helpful to understand dress code particulars: In recent years, the phrase "dressy casual" has risen in popularity for wedding dress codes. Think of dressy casual wedding attire wording as a spin on business casual. Dressy casual wedding attire is most closely related to semi-formal attire, and should be interpreted appropriately. Depending on the time of the event, choose an outfit that falls in between formal and casual. It's encouraged to wear darker, more formal hues for an evening fete, while light colors and fabrics would be appropriate for a daytime wedding. "Semi-formal falls in the gray area between casual and formal," says Coleman. "However, cocktail attire tends to be a little more dressy than semi-formal." So, what do you wear to a semi-formal wedding? "Some ideas include a midi dress, a chic jumpsuit, or a wrap dress," Coleman continues. Question

What if it rains on the wedding day?

Answer

If it rains on the wedding day, the wedding ceremony will be moved into the University Union, which is where the cocktail hour and reception will be held.

Question

Where do we park for the ceremony?

Answer

When parking for the wedding ceremony, there is a parking lot south of Sherman Hall at the intersection of West Adams Road and North Sherman Avenue. There will be spots in the front row blocked off for the bridal party to park. There is parking available in front of Sherman Hall on the University Circle, but please avoid parking directly in front of the building-- there will be signage to avoid vehicles being in the background of the vow ceremony.

Question

Where do we park for cocktail hour and the reception?

Answer

For both of these events, you can park in one of the two parking lots connected to the north-side of the University Union. One parking lot is accessible just north of the intersection of North Western Avenue and West Murray Street, and the other is accessible from the intersection of West Murray Street and Sherman Drive.

Question

Do we need to pay for parking?

Answer

Nope! There are meters in the parking lots for during the school day, but for our weekend event they are not in use. Please disregard the meters and park in the lots closest to the event buildings.
