The Wedding Website of Hiyo Shin and Alex Marrs
Our wedding is on May 2, and Korea has a national holiday from May 1–May 5, when travel and accommodations can be busier. Things can get sold out fast so please prioritize to booking flights, hotels, and trains/bus as needed.

Travel Note

Travel Dates

We strongly recommend arriving in Daegu by April 30 and at least two days before the wedding so you have time to rest and adjust. If possible, we’d love for you to stay a few days after the wedding so we can spend more time together. For a one-week trip, we suggest April 30–May 7. Ideally, staying 1–2 weeks allows you to fully experience Korea. Important: When flying from the U.S. to Korea, you lose one day (e.g., departing the U.S. on 4/29 means arriving on 4/30). Please keep this in mind when booking flights and hotels. Since May 1–May 5 is a holiday period, if you arrive at Incheon (ICN) on April 30 or May 1, we recommend booking bus or train tickets to Daegu in advance, as they may sell out.

Flight

Korean Airline

Excellent airline with comfortable seats and outstanding in-flight meals. A premium, reliable experience overall. Date changes usually require a fee, often around $150 or more, plus any fare difference 👉 Ideal if you value comfort and service and are confident about your travel dates.

Flight

United Airlines

Some bookings may include an option to continue on to Daegu Airport after a layover in Incheon One big advantage: date changes are usually allowed without a change fee You only pay the fare difference if prices change 👉 Good choice if you want flexibility in case plans shift.

Flight

Air Premia Airline

A Korean airline that flies between San Francisco ↔ Incheon and New York ↔ Incheon Does not fly directly to Daegu Airport → After landing in Incheon (ICN), you’ll need to take a train, or bus to Daegu Flight schedules vary by day (e.g., it may fly on Monday but not Tuesday), so check multiple dates when searching Often very affordable — sometimes around $600 round trip from San Francisco Comfortable seats and a solid flying experience Food portions and snacks are a bit smaller than other airlines, but snacks are available for purchase onboard 👉 Overall: a great value option if you’re flexible with dates and don’t mind transferring to Daegu.

Flight

Daegu International Airport (TAE) (Recommended)

If you want the most convenient way to come to the wedding, fly to this airport. You'll do a layover at ICN first and then arrive at Daegu airport. If you want to explore other cities after the wedding, you can easily travel by train/bus from Daegu.

Flight

Incheon International Airport (ICN)

Most direct flights go to this airport. You can fly here if you’d like to take a tour of Seoul after the wedding and right before you fly out. But please keep in mind that 5/1-5/5 is Korean holiday and if you arrive in ICN around 4/30, 5/1, buses/trains will be sold out. You need to book them in advance. If it's your first time to Korea, I recommend to fly to Daegu directly. From this airport, there are two ways to go to Daegu. First, you can take a direct bus (4.5 hrs). You can get the ticket from the airport. The bus driver does not speak English. Second, you can take 2 trains. 1st train from the airport to Seoul, this is pretty straightforward and takes 1 hr. When you arrive in Seoul, you need to take another train to Daegu which takes 2 hrs. Keep in mind that for this transfer, you need to walk for 10-15 minutes and take 5-7 escalators. Keeping the luggage small will be handy. There is no direct flight from ICN to Daegu. The route allows flights only if you were to do layover in ICN.

Hotels near Dongdaegu Station (https://maps.app.goo.gl/Qu7RNiCqDR88J9Q76) or Dongseong-ro (https://maps.app.goo.gl/HFJuMkWAYW9VMCLe9) are both great options. All are close to subway stations. Dongdaegu Station is just 4 subway stops from our wedding venue. It’s also next to major train and bus terminals, making it very convenient if you’re traveling with luggage or visiting other cities. Dongseong-ro is about 8 subway stops (≈20 minutes) from the venue and is the downtown area of Daegu, with lots of shopping, restaurants, cafés, and nightlife. Both areas are lively, well-connected, and surrounded by great food options.

Want more budget friendly hotels?

There are many motels in Korea that cost around $20–$50 per night. Don’t let the word motel fool you — Korean motels are generally clean, comfortable, and comparable in quality to many hotels in the USA. Many of these accommodations can be found on Booking.com or Agoda. If you have any questions or have specific needs or preferences, please feel free to reach out to us — we’re happy to help!
