Yes. You can get to the island by taking the North Ferry from Greenport or the South Ferry from Sag Harbor. Both ferries take cars and people (running every 10-15 minutes) and the ferry ride itself is ~10 minutes. No reservations are necessary, and you can buy tickets on board (cash only - ATM available upon arrival). The cost of a round trip ticket in a car for two is ~$25.

Yes - if you are coming from NYC and not traveling by car, we suggest taking the LIRR train or the Hampton Jitney to Greenport given that you will be dropped off right next to the North Ferry Terminal. To get to your hotel from the ferry stop, we recommend calling a local taxi service if uber is unavailable (Shelter Island Taxi: 631-210-6677)
