Things To Do

National Mall and Smithsonian Museums

There are a wide variety of museums in downtown DC that you can visit for free. Some of our favorites are the Air and Space Museum, the Portrait Gallery, and the American History Museum. You can find a full list at the link below. The zoo is also free!

George Washington's Mount Vernon

3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon, VA 22121

George Washington's historical home in Virginia is always a neat visit. The Washington Family also went to Pohick Episcopal Church, where we are getting married!

Old Town Free Trolley, King Street

Alexandria, VA 22314

There is a free trolley that runs in Old Town, Alexandria down King Street from the metro to the waterfront. There are tons of cute shops, restaurants, and bars to explore in Old Town and this is an easy and free way to do so!

The Majestic

911 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22314

One of our favorite restaurants in Old Town! Perfect for a weekend dinner. They have great cocktails and their pork chop is the best.

Blackwall Hitch

5 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA 22314

Great spot for dinner in Old Town Alexandria. Also have a great happy hour on the patio out back!

The Peoples Drug

103 North Alfred Street, Alexandria, VA 22314

Super cute cocktail bar right off King Street in Old Town, Alexandria. We love going here for happy hour or a post-dinner drink!

The Salt Line

79 Potomac Avenue Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

A fun place to grab an orange crush and a lobster roll by the water in DC. We have spent many days and nights here with friends and it is where we celebrated on the day we got engaged!

BARCA Pier & Wine Bar

2 Pioneer Mill Way, Alexandria, VA 22314

The perfect place to enjoy sangria and tapas on a pretty day as it is located right on the water in Old Town Alexandria.

Virtue Feed & Grain

106 South Union Street, Alexandria, VA 22314

Another favorite for brunch or dinner in Old Town Alexandria.

Walter’s Sports Bar and Restaurant

10 N Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

Matthew's all time favorite sports bar in DC. We have spent many game days here drinking beer with friends and family. They have fantastic burgers!

Martin's Tavern

1264 Wisconsin Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20007

A DC classic - this is where JFK proposed to Jackie and where we have had our Valentine's Day date every year we've been together.

The Capital Burger

1005 7th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

The Capital Grille's more casual restaurant. They have fantastic burgers and the best homemade pickles. We went here on our first date!

Grazie Nonna

1100 15th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20005

One of our favorites for Italian in DC! They have a banana pepper martini that is to die for and you must get the garlic bread.

For all the days along the way
