"I Want to go Home!"

07.16.2024

You want to know what makes Tobias Ave special? Nothing in particular. But Tobias Ave is just a few streets over from where Cassie grew up, which makes it a great place to wait when you’re picking her up for a first date and want to be respectfully early but not creepily early (it’s a fine line). And so there Alex sat, staring at the clock, trying to figure out how far in advance he could pull into her driveway as he tried to wrangle in the nerves. A few hundred meters away, Cassie was wading through a SEA of clothing. The wardrobe selection process had left her room looking like a small (ok, fine, medium-sized) tornado had swept through. Safe to say she is feeling a tiny bit stressed herself. The sudden thunderstorm (of all days!) in the forecast was certainly not helping either. How are you supposed to go mini golfing in the rain?! And so, for both Cassie & Alex, some fairly intense praying ensued—for nerves, for weather, for wisdom, and for a great evening together. As they arrived at the course, Cassie realized that the first of her prayers had been answered. Not only did the rain and the lightning hold off, even letting some sun through, but the impending storm deterred any sane person from going mini golfing that day. Cassie and Alex had the course to themselves. Now on a first date, you’d think that the both of them would be on their best behavior—kind, respectful, courteous… NOPE! The relentless trash talking, which frankly had begun days before, reached an all-time high. With every swing under the microscope, and both contenders trying to make a good impression (which we all know comes through being good at mini golf), Cassie & Alex both had to bring their A game. It was a tight race, with both competitors neck-in-neck. But then, hole 17 happened. A swing and a miss, then again, and again, AND AGAIN. Suddenly, Cassie had trailed behind. Amidst the array of stress from wanting to impress Alex, wanting to communicate how much she was enjoying herself, and, of course, wanting to win (because we all know how competitive she is), Cassie let out the most well-crafted statement she could think of: “I want to go HOME!!” Now Alex can best be described as intuitive and reflective. So, you can imagine the amount of thinking, and overthinking, that then followed. Was she having a good time? Did she really want to go home? Was the trash talking too much? Nonetheless, they continued on their mini golf adventure until they came to the final hole. Alex led by one. All he needed to do was sink the final putt to claim the win. And you’ll never believe it…he missed, setting the score to a tie. Now this presented the perfect opportunity for a rematch (also known as another date), which was the real win to them both! And so, the rest is history! Cassie and Alex have played endless rounds of mini golf, laughed about everything and anything, and now joke about how Cassie gave Alex quite a scare on their first date. They are so excited to be marrying one another and can't wait for the endless adventures to come!
