Though it is a topic often debated, we officially met in 10th grade English class (according to Amira). Unsurprisingly, Hunter was immediately more focused on entertaining Amira in class than just about anything else. He says that is because they had actually met a year before that as freshmen. Though we didn't exchange names or say much more than hello, Hunter was smart enough to let Amira know how beautiful she was during their brief exchange—a sentiment he still shares today. As time went on, Hunter still just wanted to make Amira laugh whether they were in high school or college. And even as a grad student Amira is the best friend Hunter could ever ask for. Our relationship has stood strong through so many stages of life. We are so excited to continue to grow together and celebrate our love with our favorite people.
Following a summer of Amira's persistent hints about engagement rings, Hunter took the next step on a trip to Big Bear celebrating their anniversary. While Amira had a feeling that something exciting could happen, she was not privy to Hunter's plans to propose on a moving kayak in the middle of Big Bear Lake. Hunter prepared letters spelling out "The Engagement", put them in a bag, and told Amira to unscramble them. Once Amira figured out what was happening and turned around, Hunter had the ring box out and popped the question.
