Meet our friends and family that will be walking down the aisle with us.

Katherine Lockwood

Bride

Written by the Groom: From our first date to the moment I asked you to make me the happiest person in the world, I continue to fall more and more in love with you. As I reflect on my past, there seems to be a greater fate or divine intervention that brought you in my life. Looking back through both good and bad times, I’m so happy this incredible path that led me directly to you. I’m grateful for your adventurous spirit. You’ve showed me parts of the world I have always wanted to explore. You have made my world bigger. As we sit on the cusp of an incredible moment together, shared with our dearest family and friends, I look forward to exploring it together and all the memories we will create. I love you, Goof

Hunter Hinnant

Groom

Written by the Bride: On a late afternoon at the Hampton Yacht Club along the Chesapeake Bay, Hunter saw that my mom was cold(she, not so subtlety, had napkins draped over her) and offered to give her his jacket. From that moment, my mom decided that “we” needed to help this great guy meet friends in Northern Virginia. In 2018, we started connecting over Facebook for a few months. Hunter continued to send numerous random questions about D.C. until he finally asked me out to breakfast while I was in town for Thanksgiving. We quickly hit it off; having 5 dates in 4 days. I love his kindness, loyalty, ambition to serve the greater good, contagious laugh, and unabashed dance moves. His joy is infectious. This life we are building together will be extraordinary. Love you Goof, Silly

Jessica Lockwood

Maid of Honor

Written by the Bride: Jessica Lockwood has always been there for me since literally day 1. From big wins, losses, and grand adventures, “the Lockwood sisters” have been through everything together. From teaching me how to do my hair, find the best restaurant in any city, or plan a last minute trip at the drop of a hat, Jess has taught me many invaluable lessons. Our parents raised us to create a village. One that would bring strength when needed, love without asking, and mutual support. I am always grateful that God gave me wonderful parents and Jess as part of my village. Jess is truly made of honor.

Alex Johnson

Best Man

Written by the Groom: Meeting in our junior year at CNU, Alex Johnson and I became friends instantly. Through our annual guys trip, Apple Blossom, and time as roommates during our senior year has helped us build a friendship to last a lifetime. Alex, you are like a brother to me. You have been a great friend to Katherine and me. We love having you in our lives! Thanks for being apart of my family. Having you next to me as I make the biggest step of my life means the world to me.

Courtney Bridges

Bridesmaid

Written by the Bride: Courtney Bridges is a bold and brilliant Bostonian. Courtney and I met back in 2015 during our first year working within Bank of America’s Commercial Real Estate Banking team. While we are both incredibly driven, we are each other’s work ying and yang. We have always been 100% honest and supported one another since that first coffee date at Caribou in Charlotte, NC. Courtney, you’ve always encouraged me to build a big life, live large, be a game changer, and make the most of every day. I can truly say that because you exist, you make me a better person. Thank you for being there always. Love you so much, Katherine 📸: Courtney showing Katherine how to Navigate the T during her first time in Boston.

Nick Ciardiello

Groomsman

From the Groom: Beyond his great taste in music, Nick is a wonderful friend. Katherine and I have always recognized those that are giving of spirit. Nick has always has been kind, loyal, and truly giving. Nick, we look forward to concerts, cooking classes, and all life has to offer in the future. Thanks for being by my side on our big day. From the Bride: Moving to D.C. in a pandemic isn’t for the faint of heart. Though, if Covid-19 has taught us anything, it is that friends and family are worth their weight in gold. Through the pandemic, he helped us keep a semblance of “normal”. We would have a supper club once a week every Thursday. Nick is very kind, witty, and an amazing friend. Thanks for being a highlight of our week over the past year. We look forward to future adventures!

Carson Cook

Bridesmaid

Written by the Bride: Carson Cook is a vivacious Charlotte, NC native. Carson and the I first met each other in 2017 through Carson’s brother, Mac, at trivia. With some people, it just clicks. This was the case for Carson and me. Bigger than finance, we love travel, music, running, and aren’t strangers to a good time. Carson, I’m so thrilled to have you by my side everyday and especially as I make one of the biggest decisions of my life. In addition to your obvious brilliance, I value your loyalty, warmth, and ability to laugh in the best and worst of times. Friends like you make pandemics feel like just another chapter in a really great series. Thank you for standing by my side on 8/21. Katherine

Jeremy Hyman

Groomsman

From the Bride: Jeremy has always been a fabulous “big brother” for me. He has literally know me from day one. From Hampton, Charlotte, and all our international adventures in between, he always has looked out for me. In addition to his great taste in restaurants and rare bourbon, he is always up for a new experience. Jeremy, like many of my best nights, our wedding wouldn’t be same without you. Love you so much! From the Groom: On one of my first trips to Charlotte, I met Jeremy at the Dilworth Art Fair, immediately, I knew why Katherine held him in such high regard. He has been such a great friend to Katherine for her whole life. In past few years, he has quickly become an important figure in mine. I am so glad to have him not only in the wedding party, but as a great friend for life.

Sarah Echelberger

Bridesmaid

From the Bride: As can be seen in this picture, Sarah and I go way back. We have been friends since the 6th grade. At the time, the preppy pageant girl, Sarah, and the sporty tomboy, “Katie”, at first look would have seemed an unlikely pair. It all started at HRA middle school when we bonded over our mutual love of riding horses. Being business-minded, driven, and confident young women, we quickly found we were a perfect blend. Ever since, we have been friends for 16+ years no matter the distance in between. Sarah’s thoughtfulness, reliability, and brave nature has always made her an incredible friend. Sarah, nearly 2 decades and counting later, I’m so glad you’re still by my side through thick and thin. I can’t wait to celebrate this new chapter with you, Cheers lovely, Katherine

Cory Johnson

Groomsman

Written by the Groom: I have known Cory Johnson for seven years since freshman move-in. We have been close friends watching out for each other and celebrating together. Cory is very loyal and dedicated to his friends. He has a great personality, is fun to be around, and is always the life of the party.

Laura Bryant

Bridesmaid

Written by the Bride: Laura and I have been friends since our freshman year at Roanoke College. Always up for an adventure, we have been creating lifelong memories together through sorority, travel, and challenging careers. On our first hike at McAfee’s Knob on the Appalachian Trail, we quickly bonded when we stumbled upon two very large black bears about 6 ft away. Suddenly, we both broke out in a Disney song to create enough noise to help scare the bears away. Over 10+ years later, I am still very humbled and grateful to have such a resourceful, brilliant, and hilarious friend that would face life’s pits and peaks with me. Most of my best stories typically involve Laura. Therefore, she has been sworn to secrecy and had to be a part of the Bride Tribe. Love you Lala, KitKat

Chris Knox

Groomsman

Written by the Groom: I first met Chris going into my Senior year at CNU. This business-minded kid from New York, has always had that NYC personality. Chris is always up to try new things, a good time, and never said no to an adventure. He has always been there through thick and thin. I’m lucky to have him stand by my side on 8/21/21.

Courtney Klus

Bridesmaid

From the Bride: Both Hampton natives, Courtney Crowder Klus and I have been close since elementary school. From learning how to drive to studying abroad together, we have loyally supported each other through every chapter. It’s rare to continue being friends through every phase of life. Courtney is one of those rare gems for me. We are both fearless in different ways. From a young age, Courtney got me out of my comfort zone. I was always a reliable and resourceful confidant for Court. Currently, Courtney lives in Fairmont, West Virginia. Though, we never let distance get in the way. Over the past 20+ years, we have always put in the time and effort to grow our friendship. Love you FFB, DSW

Dan McMahon

Groomsman

From the Groom: From freshman year to today, our initial bond for volleyball turned into a deep friendship. Our time in D.C. going to games and trying out the latest hot city scene has brought us closer. Dan, your dry wit, mutual love of Irish Rock and sports, and dedicated friendship are just a few reasons why I’m so honored you’ll be by my side on our wedding day. Bride: Dan’s upbringing has instilled humility and great sense of loyalty in the Chicago Cubs. At first glance, Hunter and Dan may seem like a pair of opposites. Beyond their Irish roots and love of sports, they are both deeply honest, hardworking, loyal, and ready for a grand adventure. Paige and Dan have always been great friends for us. I’m so happy they are apart of our big day!

Cheryl Lockwood

Mother of the Bride

Cheryl Bryson Lockwood is probably an indescribable legend, but I’ll try. Having grown up as part of an Air Force family, she grew up as an international citizen. The love of all cultures, cuisine, and adventures is something she instilled in Jess and me. She was an affirmative action hire at Cigna. At the time, their sales team meetings looked like a scene out of the Wolf of Wall Street. As the only women, she wanted to ensure she was the best. Within a year, with tougher and tougher quotas, she became the top sales person in the top 10%. Growing up, I knew I had an extraordinary mom. She was a CEO of an education software company serving Virginia. She has always been an example of bravery, determination, loyalty, and love for me. Love you mom, Katherine

Jim Lockwood Jr.

Father of the Bride

From the Bride: Prior to his Engineering days at UVA, or his time parking a car at the Harvard yard, he was known for his wit. In second grade, his math teacher, misunderstanding his quiet demeanor, asked him to calculate the circumference of the moon. To her shock, he did. He embodies resourcefulness, honor, thoughtfulness, brilliance, and bold love. From growing up to today, my Dad has balanced managing multiple businesses, made time to practice basketball and soccer with me everyday after school, and survived spending painstaking hours teaching me math. Much to his joy, his efforts paid off when I went to Roanoke with an academic scholarship, offer to play soccer, and eventually going on to work at Bank of America. Without him, I would not be the women I am today. I love you Dad!

Velma Lee

Great Aunt of the Bride

Over our spring break vacations, Aunt Velma taught me strategy over our games of rummy, the lesson to enjoy every morning with a cup of hot cocoa or coffee, and live life to the fullest. As the first business woman in our family, she taught me the importance of following your dreams. Her love of peacocks and the red hatters remind everyone to embrace their true colors and shine them brightly. There are so many wonderful happy memories we have shared through the years and Hunter and I are so thrilled she is sharing this one with us today.

Kim Rabon

Honor Attendant

From the Groom: From her time working with my father in the Newport News Fire Department for nearly 25 years to now, Kim has been a paramount figure in my life. She is always a force for good and helps heal many people with her caring heart. I would come to know that love when my mother passed away four years ago and Kim stepped up in a huge way to support, mentor, and care for me. She has changed my life. I am forever grateful to have her not only in my life, but also for her to be there for Katherine and my wedding. We appreciate her support on our journey as we build our lives together.

Curtis Davidson

Honor Attendant

From the Groom: Curtis has always been like a father figure for me. For over a decade, he has mentored me through thick and thin. Curtis pushes me to dream big, encourages me to fulfill my goals, and to create a better world. Curtis, you mean so much to Katherine and me. Thank you so much for seeing something in me and acting on it. You changed my life and continue to support Katherine and my growth. It means the world that you’re supporting us on our big day.

Michael Joyner

Grandfather of the Groom

From the beginning, you have always been such a great figure in my life. I love the many memories of our trips to the beaches in the Outer Banks, as well as one to Jamaica not so long ago. I am blessed to have a grandfather like you. I have enjoyed the many holidays where you always go above and beyond in the decorating department! Cherished memories of beautiful Christmases with your endless number of nativity scenes and the two big Christmas trees done up in the whole nine yards. I have now followed that same tradition in our home. I have not yet started to count gumballs or try to guess the number of spins it takes to make your sweet tea. I am honored and proud to have you here with us on our wedding day.

Pamela Joyner

Grandmother of the Groom

Your attention to detail and support in my upbringing has helped shape me to be the person that I am today. Your commitment childhood education has been extremely instrumental not only to myself, but the many children you have taught through the years. Thank you for being such a great grandmother and instructor to me. I am truly honored to have you here to celebrate Katherine and me on our wedding day!

Liv Hintlian

Reader

From the Bride: The Hintlian and Lockwood families have been friends for half a century. It wasn’t much of a surprise to our father’s that Liv and Katherine were fast friends. Liv was doing an internship on the Hill and I was often in D.C. visiting Hunter. We grew very close through Naples beach bonding times with the Hintlian family, lunch dates in DC, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, wild WV Polaris rides, or even just catching up on the bachelor. Liv is creative, smart, and lights up any room. I am very happy that Liv will be speaking during our ceremony.

Matt Bryant

Reader

From the Bride: For over 9 years, Matt has been a great friend to me since our times at Roanoke College. During our simpatico moves to North Carolina and Texas for work, he has always been like the brother I never had. In my early days of banking, he patiently taught me golf and I helped with travel. From the Bahamas, Iceland, or Dublin, I’ve enjoyed every adventure. Since Hunter came into my life, Laura and Matt have been a great friends to us. We are very honored that Matt has agreed to be a speaker at our wedding.
