It was the 14th day of May in 2022 when we were getting ready to meet our friends, Colin and Sophie who came down from PA to visit. We had dinner plans to go to one of our favorite places at the beach, Our Harvest. So we leave the house and Ian says “oh we’re going to meet them for happy hour first.” Ok, fine by me, I’ll never turn down happy hour. I asked where we were meeting our friends and Ian exclaimed “oh this new place!” We finally stop the car and much to my surprise we were parked near the beach at state line. I also forgot to mention that Ian had been telling me for weeks how he couldn’t wait to take a walk on the beach before the tourist arrived for the season. Which again, I thought was odd because Ian (unfortunately) does not share my affinity for the beach. I had shared this suspicious behavior with my friend, Jaime, a week before (who knew of his plans to propose). Obviously she told this to Ian, in hopes that he wouldn’t ruin the surprise. So we’re at the beach, we get out of the car and he says “I can take a walk with you on the beach whenever I want, that doesn’t mean its for a certain reason.” I’m thinking, ok great nothings happening, he’s not proposing, I was wrong. He wants to prove a point so we start walking on the beach. It’s so foggy you can’t see 6 feet in front of you. I’m also wearing boots because I thought we were going out to eat, and not walk on the beach. So I’m annoyed because I’m getting sand in my boots, the wind is ruining my hair and I’m starving because I had fasted all day to prepare for this feast we were about to eat. We continue our walk as I begin begging to leave Ian turns to me and says, “I will only propose on days that start with a T.” I’m thinking….ok Tuesdays and Thursdays that’s dumb but whatever. Then he gets down on one knee and says “and today.” We obviously both started crying and I was so happy that there was a photographer there to capture the moment!
