While there is no specific timing, Highlands is not a large town and there is only a handful of hotels. We recommend our guests book as far in advance as they can to ensure they have accommodations secured. There also may be 2-3 night minimums when booking hotels or Airbnb's due to the holiday weekend.
While there could be a few in the area, it is highly unlikely and guests should plan accordingly. There will be buses from Highlands to the Wedding venue & back. This is why we recommend staying as close to Highlands to make your evenings more walkable.
Highlands is known as a temperate rainforest - which means any day there is about a 40% chance of rain in May. The average highs in the month of May are 75 and the lows at about 55.
The attire for the wedding & reception will be formal attire. We suggest guests were a suit in any color & cocktail dresses.
There is two bars in Highlands that will stay open later. The Ugly Dog Public House states on their website they are open till 11 but will stay open later if there is a crowd. The second bar is the High Dive, which stays open till midnight or later.
You can find public golfing at Sky Valley Country Club or Sapphire Valley Resort (Sapphire National Golf Club). The Golf Club at Mill Creek in Franklin, NC or Kingwood Resort in Clayton, GA. A stay at Old Edwards Inn provides access to their Old Edwards Golf Club. A majority of golf courses around Highlands are country clubs, so you would need to be with or at least know a member to play most of those courses.

Viewpoints in Highlands include the Rhodes Big View Overlook on Highway 64 toward Cashiers. Other overlooks include The Blue Valley Overlook and Osage Overlook on Highway 106 (Dillard Road). Scenic drives include Horse Cove Road and the Mountain Waters Scenic Byway on Highway 64 West (Highlands Road).
