Roman & Kristen originally met at a bar in Kristen’s hometown. Roman was visiting friends and one of those friends happened to be the bartender Amber (one of our bridesmaids). Kristen already knew Amber through a mutual friend. As she was waiting for someone, she noticed the drink Amber made Roman. It looked really good. Roman asked if Kristen wanted one and she said sure. They exchanged contact info and ended up talking all night until Kristen decided to leave with a girlfriend. Roman admits to this day that he felt a light leave him when Kristen walked away. That’s how he knew she was something special. A couple years go by and they stayed in touch as friends. Life pulled them in different directions for a bit. Roman worked in different states and then wound up in Minnesota. Then one day Roman posted a Bible verse on his social media. Kristen felt immediately drawn to it because it resonated with what she was feeling at that moment in her life. She sent a Bible verse back. They talked some more and Roman found out that she was single and he called her. That phone call lasted 5 hours with no pauses in conversation. Mind you, Roman was at work while he was talking to her. At the end of the phone call with no hesitation, he booked flights for her to visit him. Unsure, Kristen went back and forth in her mind for a whole week deciding whether to go or not. Being from a small town and in the same social circles, she cared too much what people thought. Ultimately, she decided to put her happiness first and kept an open mind. That flight turned into a first date, which turned into a first kiss, which turned into being more than friends. At the end of the weekend, when it was time for Kristen to fly back home, Roman told her that he was serious about her. He explained that he only wanted to date her. He didn’t want either of them to date other people when she went back home. He wanted to know by 4:00 if she wanted to be with him too. Kristen was scared because she didn’t want to give her heart to someone and get hurt again. However, something about Roman felt different. Again, she kept an open mind. So at 4:00 on the dot, Kristen said yes. The rest is history 🤍
