How it all started

First comes school, then comes marriage.

As many of you know, we met at school, and growing up we lived just five minutes down the road form each other. Many bus rides, science and gym classes, and after school activities brought us closer together by the day. We met in fifth grade, but we started dating in ninth grade when we were set up by a couple of friends. Since that day, we have been completely inseparable. After almost four years of unconditional love and adventures, we got engaged on December 24th of 2017. We are so excited to share and cherish these special moments with you all, thank you for helping us celebrate a lifetime of happiness together as Mr. and soon to be Mrs. Spear!

The Proposal (As written by Sam)

12.23.17

The night that Jason proposed, it was right before Christmas. He called me and told me that he would not be able to come home for Christmas because his leave was not approved, due to the fact that he was brand new to his duty station, fresh out of basic training. So, I called my mom and told her I was coming home early from work so I could pack and drive down to Virginia so Jason didn't have to spend Christmas alone. Of course, she already knew what was going on so she called Jason and told him. Jason called me back about an hour later and said "Hi honey, my leave just got approved, ill be on a flight in an hour. My brother is at my mom's house, you should text him and see if he wants to ride to the Syracuse airport with you". So, I did. I called Chris and told him that I was coming over to pick him up. By this time, it was past midnight( so technically it was the 24th), I got ready so fast I ended up going to pick Chris up in my slippers still. I pull up to jason's mom's house and I see these huge white letters in the garage that say "MARRY ME", I was so shocked. I get out of my car and Chris was standing in the drive way already, I sort of felt bad for seeing it, I thought that I ruined Jason's surprise for after we picked him up from the airport. I said to Chris "Oh my gosh, was I supposed to see that?!". Then the headlights of Jason's mom's car flick on to high beam and illuminate the letters once more, and then Jason gets out of the car, gets down on one knee, pulls out a ring, and says "Samantha Jean Hill, would you do me the honor of becoming my wife, and spending the rest of your life by my side?" I was so happy and in shock that he was actually home for the first time in months, I hugged him and kissed him before I even got a chance to say YES! It went by in such a flash, we didn't get any pictures, but I will never forget that night. If you want to see a picture of Jay building the letters the day before, there's a picture under the "Photos" tab!
