We met at a library! Kevin was working for Midwest Beltone in Pittsburg, Kansas selling hearing aids. He was looking for a location to conduct hearing tests in the Coffeyville area. I was working as the Library Director in Coffeyville. He came knocking on my door for a space to meet patients. He rented a room at the library for over a year and through those monthly interactions our relationship bloomed!
This past February, when the pandemic was still an ocean away, Kevin and I took a trip to Jamaica. We had booked a trip at an all-inclusive resort in Montego Bay. We spent 5 days at the resort and spent most of our time by the pool. We enjoyed fruity drinks, the spa, wonderful food, a sunset snokeling excursion, and reggae bands. On on last full day in Jamaica, we were lounging in the pool when Kevin sunk down into the water. After several moments of thinking he was scratching his foot I asked what he was doing. He said "You can't tell, but I'm on one knee," then he presented me with a ring and proposed. I, of course, said yes! It was a sweet, private moment as no one around us even realized what had happened. Later that night I asked him why he waited until the last day of our trip to ask. His response "I waited to do it until the last day in case you said no. That really would have made the trip awkward."
