The one where Carlos proposes and Hillary says "yes"
Carlos passed the right Filling Station on his route to the wrong Filling Station coffee shop. I almost (indeed was about to) take his mistake as a sign that this wasn't meant to be and make my way home. He insisted that he'd be there in just a few minutes. He was worth the wait. Sophie and I were smitten right away. - Hillary
After only two months of texting jokes and eating cheese boards, Carlos proved to be funny, kind, and open to all varieties of cheese. So, naturally, I invited him to join me for a week in Maine. Upon landing in Boston, Carlos devoured his first lobster roll, and we followed that by sharing oysters, lighthouses, more lobsters, hikes, and boat rides with my friends and family. - Hillary
I was coordinating things to happen on Saturday, April 30th, toward the end of Hillary’s mom’s stay in Kansas City. However, Hillary had a strong hunch that it would happen that weekend since my parents were also slated to come into town (or so she thought). Thanks to a mix-up of the dates (people accidentally bought their plane tickets for the weekend prior), I managed to re-coordinate everything to happen on Saturday, April 23rd. After a few fake phone calls to throw Hillary off track, we left to “go play board games” with a friend at a coffee shop. But to Hillary’s surprise, I made a quick right turn to the coffee shop where we had our first date, and then the rest was history. Oh, and she said yes. - Carlos
With roughly a year studying Spanish on Duolingo in her pocket, Hillary jumped on a plane with me, and we voyaged to southern Mexico. We explored the state of Hidalgo, where my family is from. She braved through my fast-paced Spanish-speaking cousins and met my grandma, aunts, and uncles. I got to show her almost all the great food items that the magical towns of Hidalgo have to offer. Indulging in tamales, tacos, tlacoyos, and warm freshly-made churros brought Hillary much delight; she made an equally warm impression on my family and was welcomed as a new family member. - Carlos
