We met at the University of Northern Colorado while pursuing our PhDs. Hillary was in her third year, when in walked Nathan, to the graduate student seminar. Nathan was in a boot and using crutches (he was recovering from an Achilles rupture) and immediately caught Hillary's eye (hunka-hunka). After several months of "grabbing a beer", Nathan finally asked Hillary out on a real date, which was perfect timing because Hillary thought they were going to be stuck in the "friend zone" forever. Nathan and Hillary spent much of the next two years hiking, camping and drinking good beer with Tyr. After three years of dating, Nathan and Hillary decided to make things officially-official, when Nathan and Tyr joined Hillary in Bellingham, WA. They both currently work at Western Washington University and love this mountain and craft beer paradise, in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Sunday, October 27th was the BEST day! We went on a hike to Oyster Dome, which overlooks Bellingham Bay and the San Juan Islands. It was a gorgeous, blue bird day. We took our classic "Hillary, Nathan and Tyr" selfie, which was like every other photo, until...….Nathan was down on one knee with a ring and Tyr was rolled over on his back ready for some belly rubs.
