The Hilkes

Shelby and Brianna both grew up going to school at Lewiston-Altura. Going to the same school, they both knew of one another, but never really talked, hung out or had any mutual friends. Until, Shelby reached out to Brianna in the spring of 2016 and asked for her Snapchat and cell phone number. At this time Shelby was a senior and Brianna was a sophomore. And after talking all day and night for a while, they went on their first date, to a dinner and a movie, and they officially started dating on May 28th, 2016.

On Friday, August 25th, Shelby and Brianna had just got back to Rochester from a week long vacation. During the entire day of travel back home, Shelby continued to mention an event that was happening that evening for dogs that he wanted to take their golden retriever, Ahri, to. At 5 pm, Brianna and Shelby got in the car and headed to the Plummer House with Ahri, to go to this “dog event”, and upon arrival, Brianna noticed that there were very few cars and people present. Brianna and Shelby continued on and started walking around the property, until they came upon a man with a camera taking pictures of this puppy. So they approached the man and asked if they could meet the puppy. The man eventually passed the puppy’s leash off to Brianna so he could “grab another camera lens”. As Ahri and the puppy were playing and getting to know each other, Brianna turned around to show Shelby the cute encounter, and as Brianna turned around, Shelby was down on one knee with a ring in his hand. And the puppy was actually a surprise new addition to the Hilke family, we named her Ember, or Emmy for short.
