Welkinweir is nestled into a hillside of 197 acres in the heart of Chester County. The property takes its name from the Old English translation of "where the sky meets to the water." Remnants of a 200-year-old stone barn, a springhouse, protected forests, abundant wildlife and a 55-acre arboretum paint a scene of incredible beauty and tranquility. Formal gardens and terraces surround the venerable estate house, its earliest roots traced back to the 1740s. Welkinweir is the home of Green Valley Association, a not-for-profit organization with a mission to protect and preserve the water resources of Northern Chester County through advocacy and education. A portion of wedding revenue will go to this non-profit and its mission. After viewing venue after venue, Rebecca and Steven knew right away that Welkinweir was the perfect spot for their wedding. Between the historic Estate, the tranquil forest setting, and partnership with an environmental non-profit, this venue had it all.
