If you’re on our guest list, you may already know parts of how Kevin and I met, but it’s my favorite story—so here it is again. We first crossed paths in June 2005 during basic training. Kevin quietly fell for me then; I stayed blissfully unaware for years. Eighteen years later a dream changed everything: one Sunday morning I woke up certain I’d seen us at seventy, with Kevin by my side caring for me in a hospital room. I couldn’t find him on social media, so the real chase began. After tracking down his brother on Facebook, my sister convinced me to send an awkward message to a complete stranger asking about Kevin—luckily that message led to endless texts, thousands of phone calls, FaceTime dates, and a long‑awaited reunion.
We reconnected like we had never disconnected. From that first long hug we picked up where we left off — endless conversations, shared laughter, and the comfortable ease of being with someone who already knows you. Reunions turned into dates, dates into plans, and soon it felt impossible to imagine life apart.
