I wouldn't depend on it! First, I would try utilizing Erick's Shuttle Service, as this is who we have always used and he is very familiar with the area & is very affordable (his info is under the 'Transportation' section). I recommend reaching out to him via email ASAP with your flight information, your name, and how many people are in your party (also let him know you are apart of the Howard Wedding). If you would rather go through a taxi driver when you're there, feel free, or there are also car rental options! We will be working with Erick's Shuttle Service through out the entirety of the weekend, however, once you arrive at the hotel, you shouldn't need to use transportation to go anywhere else due to all events being on that stretch of beach (walking distance), other than getting back to the airport at the end of your trip and/or any additional extracurricular activities you choose to do!
Sooner than later is always safer! For flights, you can start tracking them month over month to see if they fluctuate and book when you find the best price. For hotels, I would book as soon as possible. We have some hotel blocks and there are also other hotel options on the beach to stay as well, however, rooms are starting to book a year out so once you've decided where you'd like to stay, please confirm your booking!
White party! Wear your best whites. Gals, think a mix of beachy cocktail, chunky/lower heels (I would recommend against stilettos). Men, think light/linen - shorts/pants (whatever you have that are white-ish or beige/khaki will work) and any type of nicer button-up shirts. We will be mainly in grass or concrete surfaces, potentially sand as well. If you have any questions at all, just text Shelby (not Tyler LOL).
Beachy, Semi-Formal! Dress your best, but Costa Rica-style! Think brighter colors, please no dark colors: black, navy, brown, or gray. Ladies, we're looking for midi/maxi semi-formal dresses, heels (low/chunky work best). Men, we're looking for nice pants/slacks, collared, button down short or long sleeve shirts, and shoes. It's going to be hot during the day, but will start cooling off after 4PM.
I would bring flowy, lightweight clothes: shorts, tanks, dresses, button down collared lightweight shirts, flip flops, shoes (for any excursions you plan), bathing suits, bathing suit cover ups. Feel free to bring a light sweater just in case you get slightly chilly at night, however, nights are generally very warm and you most likely will not need.
Sunscreen, bug spray, toiletries, anything else you might want. There are grocery stores near by if you need something, however, it is Costa Rica so keep that in mind!
We recommend not drinking the tap water in Costa Rica. It can cause upset stomachs (which no one wants). Every hotel/restaurant offers bottled water for purchase. Also, feel free to stop by the grocery store near all of the hotels (2 min drive) and grab some packs of water if you'd rather do that. We will make sure the wedding ceremony and reception both have enough bottled water for everyone so not to worry.
The Wedding is Saturday 1/25/25 and the Welcome Party is Friday 1/24/25 in the evening. The Welcome Party is optional, however, we'd love to see you there! Feel free to come even earlier if you'd like, and/or extend your trip and stay longer - make a vacation out of it!
