Hien and Ryan’s story began the way many great ones do—through a mutual friend who thought the two of them just might get along. On a cold Monday in December, Ryan reached out and asked Hien if she’d like to meet for coffee or lunch. Living in Lincoln, he made the drive down to Kansas City to meet her for the very first time. Their first meeting was at Messenger Coffee, a cozy Kansas City staple that turned out to be the perfect setting for the start of something special. What was meant to be a simple first meeting quickly turned into an afternoon together. After coffee, Hien showed Ryan around Kansas City, sharing some of her favorite spots and giving him a glimpse into the city she calls home. One of those stops was the Liberty Memorial, a place that would later hold an even more special meaning for them. From that day on, one conversation led to another, and before they knew it, they were making trips back and forth between Lincoln and Kansas City just to spend time together. Along the way, Hien and Ryan discovered how much they shared—a love for good coffee, great food, traveling, meaningful conversations, and most importantly, a strong foundation in faith. What started as a casual coffee meet-up quickly grew into something much deeper. Ryan proposed in the best way possible—on Hien’s birthday. The day was filled with surprises, just the way Hien loves them. Ryan brought Hien back to the Liberty Memorial, the very place she had taken him when showing him around Kansas City on their first “date.” Surrounded by their family and closest friends, Ryan asked Hien to marry him, making it a day they will cherish forever. Hien and Ryan are so excited to begin this next chapter together. They cannot wait to build a family of their own and are so grateful to celebrate their wedding day surrounded by the people they love most—you. 💍
