Jasmine and Michael initially met during middle school! During their 7th-grade end-of-year celebrations, Michael jokingly wrote, "Stay cool. See you next year," in Jasmine's yearbook. When they completed middle school, they wouldn't see each other again until college. During their freshman year at the University of Memphis, their paths crossed again when they enrolled in the same African-American Literature course. The pair enjoyed catching up during study sessions over lunch. At the conclusion of the semester, life took Jasmine and Michael along different paths. The two would briefly reconnect in their mid-twenties, but later decided to only remain good friends. That is until... In September of 2019, Michael saw that Jasmine had plans to attend a speed dating event via Facebook. He took this opportunity to inquire about setting up a date of his own. After a quick "long time, no see" DM conversation, the two decided to attend a comedy event at a local church and the rest is history. Over the next few years, Jasmine and Michael spent time cultivating a relationship that ushered in joy, love, and trust that the two knew they wanted to sustain for a lifetime. It took several years of crossing paths before Jasmine and Michael could see that they belonged together. Their love story didn’t start with an initial spark but rather a slow burn to get to where they are today. They couldn’t be happier.

In September 2021, Michael planned to propose to Jasmine during a weekend trip to New Orleans. Unfortunately a week before the trip, Hurricane IDA would make landfall leaving extensive damages and power outages to the New Orleans area. As a result, the pair canceled travel plans to New Orleans and quickly decided to visit St. Louis instead. During the trip, Michael would propose in front of the Gateway Arch. Ring was presented, hugs and kisses were shared, and it was an amazing experience. We can’t wait to celebrate our wedding day with you!
