If you’re driving up from Portland toward Friendship, this stretch of Mid-Coast Maine is full of beautiful places to stretch your legs and take in the views. Reid State Park offers sandy beaches, dunes, and rocky shoreline. Camden Hills State Park has wooded trails with sweeping views over Penobscot Bay. Beech Hill Preserve in Rockport is a gentle hike with panoramic coastal scenery. In Rockland, walk the Breakwater out to the lighthouse for classic Maine views. Owls Head State Park and Marshall Point Light both offer dramatic ocean overlooks with short, accessible paths. Mount Battie in Camden is a quick climb with one of the most iconic harbor views in Maine. Pemaquid Point offers dramatic rocky shoreline views and one of Maine’s most photographed lighthouse settings. For something quieter, try Riverbrook Preserve in Waldoboro or Salt Pond Preserve in Friendship for peaceful woods and water.
