Once upon a time, we listened to our parents after searching for a long time on our own. Yep, it was a magical lady (a.k.a rishta auntie) who connected a New Yorker with a Texan. We met on whatsapp video call, he quickly realized I have an android and wasn't cool enough to Facetime. The conversations lasted longer than what we were used to, and the connection grew, six months later we met in person, and it felt like we had known each other for a very long time. Our families connected instantaneously and now they have their own inside jokes. While reflecting on our connection, family connection and the ease in which things were working out. We went ahead to schedule our pre-martial coaching sessions with the Khalil Center. Oh boy, do those sessions bring out the best questions, reflections and a ton of discussions that makes everything else feel even more real! Our parents met one another via video, Hiba's grandmother (moms side) met Adil's mom in Pakistan. They texted and chatted as Adil prepared to meet Hiba's parents at his apartment in Austin, Texas. He cooked them a traditional Pakistani lunch (Karahi and Korma). Hiba's parents quickly started to plan a wedding with Adil's mom after returning from Texas, they even bought Adil a ring. It must be the food! Here we are bringing everyone together to celebrate the addition to our families with blessings from Allah and our loved ones.
