Hiba grew up in Skokie, Illinois from the age of 10 onwards. Skokie, also known as "The World's Largest Village", is a diverse Northshore suburb located just 30 minutes from Chicago's downtown loop. Below are some of Hiba's family's favorite places to visit over the years! We hope you get to enjoy some of these beautiful sites before you leave. Keep in mind that the summers in Chicago are hot, humid, and packed--carry a water bottle and take public transportation wherever you can!

Bahá'í House of Worship

100 Linden Avenue, Wilmette, IL 60091

Stop for a quick visit (close to Hiba's parents' house) at this stunning white‑domed, nine‑sided temple—completed in 1953—that serves as North America’s only continental Bahá’í temple, designed to embody the unity of all religions and welcome people of every faith for prayer, meditation, and reflection.

Little India

West Devon Avenue, Chicago, IL

Little India in Chicago is a vibrant 15‑block stretch along Devon Avenue in the West Ridge neighborhood, where a thriving South Asian community—spanning Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Nepali cultures—has established an aromatic cultural corridor of sari shops, spice markets, restaurants, temples, and community centers since the 1970s.

Chicago Botanic Garden

Shedd Aquarium
