How We Met

6.26.2018

We matched on Bumble in the early months of 2018 and we talked nearly every day, but I was as stubborn as could be and would not agree to letting Brian take me on a date even though he tried anything and everything. Finally, I let my walls down and agreed to a first date with someone I had never met. Imagine the nerves we both had leading up to that day! But, on June 26th Brian picked me up from my house and he had intentions of us going to Hammonasset, but he missed the exit. We were both so nervous we weren't focused on directions. So, instead, we settled on going to Niantic instead since it was just a few more exits down. We got dinner and milkshakes at Skipper's, I got chocolate and Brian got strawberry. Then we went to Rocky Neck and sat in the sand and continued to talk and get to know each other. Brian skipped rocks and tried to convince me to do it with him, but I was too nervous that I wouldn't be able to do it. It felt like we were there for hours, in a good way. Brian drove me back home and sealed the night with a hug which admittedly left me a little confused, but not enough to make me forget about the amazing night we had and how happy I felt. I knew that this was different, he was different, Brian was and is the kind of guy every girl hopes they are lucky enough to find. I texted my college roommate, Emma, on July 7th and said "I'm gonna marry him" and I just knew he felt the same way. Brian met my family and we went on quite a few more dates. On July 9th he took me to Lebanon to meet his family and that night he asked me to be his girlfriend. If you told us then that seven years later we'd be planning our wedding, we probably wouldn't have believed you, but then again, we both knew once we met that "this is it".
