Our paths crossed on a place and day we would not have been at if it wasn’t for a series of coincidental events. Judy was working as a property manager. Which had her traveling constantly. At that time she was working and living up in the Sacramento area. She was in Southern California for about two weeks due to a situation requiring her presence and attention. Since she was home, she was able to plan and celebrate her brother, Joshua’s, birthday. Which was on September 10th. Joshua requested to celebrate in downtown San Diego. So, that’s where they spent the weekend. During this time, Kevin was being honorably discharged from serving in the Marines. He was stationed in Japan, but due to homeland policies, he needed to be brought back to the states before being sent home to Puerto Rico. Oddly enough, instead of bringing him to the East Coast, which is closer to Puerto Rico, they flew him to Camp Pendleton before discharging him home. He was stationed in Camp Pendleton for about two weeks. During this time he made a few friends which on September 10th decided to go explore downtown San Diego. Judy’s family and Kevin’s friends happened to schedule a tour in Downtown San Diego for the same date and same time. They first exchanged words in the elevator on the way to a restaurant lounge. And the rest is history.
