Your presence at our wedding is enough of a gift, but should you wish to buy us something, we'd greatly appreciate a small contribution. Gift cards are also welcome, but no boxed gifts, please. The container for contributions and gift cards will be provided at the reception.
The first part of the ceremony (Baraat) begins at 9:00 am outside the Gurdwara (Sikh place of worship), and guests are anticipated to arrive by then. Please refer to the "Program" page on our website for the detailed schedule of the Wedding Ceremony.
While there isn't a rigid dress code for the Wedding Ceremony, there are several recommended guidelines to be followed: ● Dress modestly and avoid outfits with revealing cuts or plunging necklines to respect cultural norms. ● It's customary to cover your head and remove your shoes when inside the Gurdwara. Often, the ceremony will provide head coverings. ● Vibrant colors are highly encouraged for Indian Sikh weddings.
All guests are humbly requested to observe the following etiquettes: ● Please remove your shoes and cover your head before entering the Main Hall of Gurdwara. Head coverings are provided at the entrance of the Gurdwara. ● Sit on the floor, facing Shri Guru Granth Sahib (SGGS). ● You may bow your head to SGGS and offer money. ● Observe silence. ● Customarily, men and women sit separately, but not a religious mandate. ● No smoking or drinking.
Kindly review the "Explanation of the Ceremony" page on our website. It includes a brief summary and explanations of all the segments of the Wedding Ceremony.
No, the Wedding Ceremony takes place earlier in the morning (9:00 am), while the Reception is scheduled for later in the evening (6:30 pm). There is at least a five-hour gap between these two events.
The cocktail hour begins at 6:30 pm, and guests are anticipated to arrive by then. Please refer to the "Program" page on our website for the detailed schedule of the Reception.
The Reception does not adhere to a strict dress code, but typically, semi-formal attire is anticipated. Guests are encouraged to wear suits, gowns, or cocktail dresses. Embracing vibrant and bright colors is also welcomed. Keep in mind that the reception hall is on the water with a view of the Rock Creek and Patapsco River so there is a chance that it might get chilly in the evening.
Situated on the Rock Creek with a scenic view of the marina, the reception hall can be reached via Road 173 (Fort Smallwood Rd) and Water Point Oak Rd. While the venue is easily accessible, we kindly ask guests to be aware that Water Point Oak Rd narrows approximately 0.4 mile before reaching the venue.
The cuisine at both the Wedding Ceremony and Reception will be in the Indian style and served in a buffet format. There will be a diverse range of options available, including both meat and vegetarian dishes. Each dish will be accompanied by a note detailing its ingredients. If you have any food allergies, please inform us, and we will provide guidance on which items from our menu to avoid.
There will be plenty of parking for the ceremony and reception.
