We are getting married!

We met for the first time in a mutual friend's birthday party where G called Andrew’s attention, but she doesn't remember seeing or meeting Andrew there at all (awkward). Andrew was interested in this beautiful girl that stood so far apart from the others. He continued to secretly watch her social media to get a glimpse of who G was and what she enjoyed doing. Andrew heard from Lucy (our mutual friend) of G coming to events and would always make sure to be there if there was a chance of seeing her again. However, there was always something that happened that would result in G not being able to make it. Months after that birthday party, Lucy realized Andrew’s personality and intimate relationship with God, which led her to consider that something could actually workout between us since our faith and commitment to a relationship with God were very similar. Lucy invited Andrew to a housewarming party that G was hosting where he was able to officially introduce himself. Andrew was super awkward and had a ridiculous mustache that G was not particularly interested in. After some time, maybe months (yeah we had not been talking or anything yet), we happened to randomly bump into each other at a Church Alive event (“Worship Night” — amazing night by the way). Andrew was singing on stage for the first time, and G was sitting right in front of him. We briefly spoke that evening and ended up going out for coffee that same week on G’s birthday, which he wasn’t aware of. God loves us so much to have delivered Andrew as a special birthday gift for G.

We spent the first few dates talking for hours about life, what we believe, our mission/calling in life and the future we hoped for. After that, we were hanging out with a few, very close friends. After G had gotten over the fact that Andrew is 3 years younger than her, and 2 months of knowing and learning more of each other went by, we made it official. A night featuring a walk around a fully lit New York City, hands held, and a kiss on the cheek marked the beginning of our journey together. No relationship is perfect and the two of us definitely had our disagreements. However, we were able to manage our conflicts and grow closer to one another in spite of it. God has always been kept at the center of it all. We are very different people (in many ways) but one's weakness is made strong from another. We’ve been helping each other to understand how to be a better, stronger person and a better, stronger Christian altogether.

The year 2020 is been full of surprises and G was not expecting this moment at all. Andrew invited some close friends on a road trip to a place very special to him: a family home on Lake Erie. It is filled with Andrew's childhood memories and a tight knit community where everyone seems to know everyone. Our friends and the community knew what was to come that weekend, but G was none the wiser. Andrew had purchased the ring and was battling the anxiety of asking such a simple but important question. As the sun set, everyone gathered to watch as Andrew began to set our vision for the future into motion. It was the perfect evening with the perfect people, and most importantly, the perfect question. As the sun retired into the water in the background, you could find Andrew on his knee and our friends cheering us alongside Andrew’s parents. It was such a beautiful scene. G was overwhelmed by joy with such a sweet and well designed moment. The rest is not history yet though. We have one more story to tell, and that is how we gathered our friends and family to celebrate a lifelong commitment together. We are beyond excited to start off our life together as one and cannot wait to see everyone there!
