Here’s to Hayes

Sammi and Danny grew up just ten minutes apart, yet they never truly crossed paths. Everything changed when Sammi met Allison, her soon-to-be sister-in-law, at camp. In 2013, Allison invited Sammi over to the Hayes' infamous pool for a Fourth of July gathering—this was the first time Sammi and Danny interacted. As the day wound down, while chatting over grilled hamburgers, Danny’s mom, Sara, said, “Danny, don’t be rude! Aren’t you going to invite Sammi to your party tomorrow night?” To which Danny replied, “MOM, I was going to ask her…” Sammi attended the party the next night, and they instantly became great friends. Over the following year, they texted and Skyped constantly, even when Danny was a freshman at Penn State. In April 2014, Sammi asked Danny to be her date to her high school’s prom. No good love story is complete without a few years apart, of course. Sammi went to the University of Maryland while Danny was a sophomore at PSU, and their paths diverged for a time. Fast forward to spring 2017—Danny was now a senior, and Sammi was a junior studying abroad in Australia. She received a random Snapchat from Danny out at a bar (how romantic!). A simple reply led to them catching up on the years they hadn’t been in touch. Their conversations soon turned into plans for when Sammi returned from Australia, and they rekindled their friendship. This time, the friendship quickly blossomed into love. By December 2017, they made it official. Danny frequently drove back and forth to see Sammi, who was now a senior, on weekends and attended all her formals, even being there to watch her graduate in 2018. After graduation, they both moved to Baltimore, got a dog named Millie, traveled, went to many Ravens games, and eventually moved to NYC in 2022. Six and a half years later, in August 2024, Danny proposed, and, of course, Sammi said yes! … We are so excited to celebrate our love with all of you. Here’s to the future and continuing our wonderful love story together!
