How We Met

There is two different stories here

Matt and I have your modern college love story! Something that every girl grows up dreaming about… Tara’s version of the first time: We met across from a sticky flip cup table in a dark basement with loud music and colored lights haha. I couldn’t get over how good looking I thought Matt was and made my friend switch spots with me so I could be his flip cup opponent. Matt liked to describe it as us being so weird and obvious that I liked him. After a little while we decided to play pong together and my friends totally ditched me with a stranger! I wasn’t sticking around with someone I just met an hour ago! So I turned to him and asked if he wanted my number because I was leaving. I was just so nervous he didnt want my number because he didn’t ask! Thankfully he took it amd texted me about 30 minutes later Matt’s version of the first time: Tara and I actually met a week prior, same location, different event. It was a super crowded party at my friends half basement, half apartment and there were probably 75 people in that small place. I noticed Tara early on in the night because the black lights make ger blonde hair glow… then I saw what I thought was her boyfriend and quickly shot down any idea of talking to her. Later on in the night, my friend handed me his phone and put me in charge of the aux at a crowded party, while he stepped away for a bit. Big responsibilty, right? Tara eventually stumbled over and asked me to play a spanish song that neither her, nor I, knew how to spell. After some googling of lyrics her and a friend remembered, it was eventually played. That was our first interaction and first time we ACTUALLY met…. Something else happened that night. My friend acquired a traffic cone when a roommate stumbled home with it and it was gone after this party. About a year or so later, we discovered the thief turned out to be Tara…

“I Love You”

Short and sweet story. Matt and I were kayaking on the lake up by his parents one weekend when I came to visit. I believe we were only together for about two months officialy when Matt looked over at me and told me that he loves me. I instantly said it back to him (which he wasn’t expecting). Little did we know that at the time both of us wanted to say it to the other person two weeks prior to when we actually said it. We were both too nervous to say it! ….. we then promptly left the lake when we realized the kayaks weren’t tag and the fish & game commission was pulling over boats nearby.

The Proposal

04/02/2021

Utah was such an amzing trip for us for more than one reason! Together we got to experience so many first as a couple and with some of our wonderful friends. For example, we got to experience dehydration from a hike that was supposed to be only 2 miles instead it came out to be 7.5 (I loved every mintue of it… NOT) Other than that, it was amazing. On our “short” hike we got engaged in the most amazing spot. We were taking a break on a bridge with a stream flowing under in valley surrounded by trees and moumtains on all side. Tara had just said that she had a day dream of me getting down on one knee but to joke and tie my shoe instead of asking her to marry me because that is what Bink told me to do (Tara’s stepdad). BUT she wasn’t aware that I planned this whole proposal in 48 hours before our trip, picked up the ring, spoke to her parents, and told our friends what I had planned as we landed in Utah. So on that bridge I decide it was the perfect moment to ask my best friend to spend the rest of her life with me.
