We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation. The health and safety of our family and friends is very important to us. We have made the very difficult decision to limit our guest list to a small gathering. For the small number that we are able to invite, we ask that if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home for the safety of our guests. Davenport Country Club staff are following the state of Iowa guidelines for sanitation and social distancing. The wedding will take place outdoors, followed by a reception inside. We are limiting our tables to 4-5 people with a distance of 6 feet between tables, spread between two large rooms. There are also tables outside on the large deck. Davenport Country Club is not allowing a dance floor due to social distancing. There will be hand sanitizer available and the dinner will be served. We are expecting a small group of around 60 people. For those who are unable to attend due to limiting our guest list for COVID-19, please know you will be there in our hearts and we hope you can attend our ceremony virtually. Thank you for your understanding and support as we navigate this difficult situation.
It was a hot summer day on Friday, August 31, 2018 when we had our first date. Jason picked me up and Mocha (my cockapoo) seemed to approve of him. We went to Crawford Brew Works to have a drink on the patio. We decided to try a flight of beers and the conversation flowed. Eventually we decided to grab dinner at Central Standard. Things were off to a great start and so when he dropped me off at my house, he didn’t seem in a hurry to leave. A massive thunderstorm moved in and we decided to watch a movie and relax. Jason visited his family the next day in South Elgin, IL. While there, he told his brother about me and that I might be THE one! We continued to date over the next several months. We made a trip to Galena, Illinois, Potosi, Wisconsin, and went hiking at Maquoketa Caves State Park and Eagle Point Park in Dubuque. We continued to grow closer and he invited me to travel to Ireland with his family in July 2019 for his cousin’s wedding. We had a wonderful time and discovered we both have a love for travel. It was fun getting to know his family better, too! On October 19, 2019 Jason proposed and I happily accepted! (read about it in our next post). The rest of our story has yet to be written...
As told by Tiffany... On October 19, 2019, Jason picked me up in the morning and we drove to Maquoketa Caves State Park to go hiking. He had asked me on Wednesday of that week to go hiking, but the weather forecast wasn’t looking great. He kept asking me if we still on for hiking throughout the week, so I knew he really wanted to go. We had previously been hiking there once before early in our relationship. When we arrived at the park, Jason asked the guide where the lookout point was at. At this point I started to get the feeling that there might be more on the agenda than just hiking since it seemed that he had done a bit of research. We hiked for a bit and eventually got to a cross path by the prairie grass. We still hadn’t found the lookout point so I was looking at the map. When I turned around, Jason was down on one knee and proposed. Of course I said yes! We hiked around the park a little while longer and took pictures to document the moment. Afterwards, we stopped at Tycoga Winery on the way back to have a celebratory drink and called our family to share the news. I found out that he had already called my parents on Wednesday to ask for their blessing. He surprised me with dinner reservations at Ruthie’s Steakhouse. When we arrived for our reservation, they had a special table ready for us with glasses of champaign. Dinner was absolutely delicious and the company was even better. They even surprised us with a yummy dessert to celebrate. It was a perfect day!
