Is there an entrance fee to Palo Duro Canyon?

Answer

Yes. Palo Duro Canyon State Park charges an entrance fee for all visitors. We kindly ask that each guest cover their admission fee, which helps support the preservation of this stunning location. We recommend arriving a bit early to ensure a smooth entrance process. Adult: $8 Daily Child 12 Years and Under: Free

Where is the closest lodging?

Answer

There is a place called Dove’s Rest Cabins at the top of Palo Duro Canyon, with several rustic, western-style cabins of different styles all having a scenic view of the canyon. You can contact them at 806-557-8998 to make reservations! (Dove’s Rest is where the wedding party will be staying.) If you’re looking for Airbnb or hotel accommodations, the town of Canyon will be your best bet. With a 15 minute drive to Palo Duro Canyon, it’s closer than Amarillo which is about 30 minutes away. Of course, camping in Palo Duro Canyon is an option as well! They have several locations for campers, as well as a few glamping and cabins options.

Being the middle of February, the weather can be unpredictable! It can be warming up for spring or it can be a windy winter wonderland. Temperatures average between the 20s and the 50s, so we recommend preparing for the worst!

What is there to do in Amarillo?

Answer

Amarillo has several museums, restaurants, and attractions that give you a broad taste of Texas! Hike the Lighthouse Trail in Palo Duro Canyon, test your appetite at the Big Texan Steakhouse, spray paint your name on a Cadillac at the Cadillac Ranch, visit the American Quarter Horse Museum, or shop at one of the many antique stores on historic Route 66! We have made our gift registry as easy as possible by adding it to this website! Everything we have asked for can be found here, so no need to drive to the store!

Is alcohol allowed?

Answer

Alcohol is allowed, however it cannot leave Mack Dick Pavilion. All alcoholic beverages must be kept inside at all times.
