Kyle and I have an interesting family background. Both of our families have lived/grown up on Duck Creek Road, so we have always known who the other was. Kyle is a couple years older than me, so we never really had much of a chance to chat until after high school. In college I picked up the hobby of running, and on my weekend visits home I’d go for runs and turn around at the Van Meter residence. Why am I telling you this? Well, fast forward about two years and you find me at the grandstands in Brookville during FC’s famous “softball Friday.” After a (few) beers, Kyle Van Meter comes walking towards the crowd of people I was chatting with & I take it upon myself to say hello to my neighbor. “HEY! THERE’S ANOTHER MEMBER OF THE DUCK CREEK CREW!” I yelled. I had totally just made up this name. -Kyle with an odd look on his face waves “hi” back. Me: “Ya know, I run by your house allllll the time. Its actually my turn around spot!” We chat for a little while longer, and eventually just go our separate ways for the night. About a week later, I get a DM on Instagram from Kyle that says “Haven’t seen you running down Duck yet ? Lol” which started a conversation about me barely making it to his driveway. Kyle says “You know what you need to do. Just in case you make it to my driveway and you’re about to faint. You should give me your number and then you will have mine. Just in case something happens. Ha.” Impressive pick up line skills if you ask me... so I gave him my number... Ya know, just in case. & the rest is history. ❤️
