Will there be seating in the church for the ceremony?
Answer
Traditionally, Orthodox churches do not have seating and participants stand during the services. However, there will be a bench along the back wall and chairs set up in the front for those who may need them. Our church is rather small and has a maximum capacity of 40 people. Because of this, we will have a tent outside the church for other guests to stand under. We expect more than half of our guests will need to stand outside under the tent for the duration of the service. We recommend dressing for the possibility of standing outside for 45 min (45-65 degree weather and possible rain). We wanted as many people as possible to be able to join us for the ceremony and we wish everyone could be in the church with us, but we have to work with the space we have.
