Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Sarah Brandt and Henry LeGard
We hope you enjoy your time in Austin! If you have some extra time to explore the city, consider visiting one of our favorite spots around town.

South Congress Avenue

South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX

Walk down South Congress Avenue, an iconic street filled with shops and restaurants. Start your walk at Tecovas or Allens Boots for a pair of cowboy boots, and complete the look with a custom cowboy hat from Maufrais.

Barton Springs Municipal Pool

2201 Barton Springs Road, Austin, TX 78746

Take a dip in Barton Springs, a natural, spring-fed pool whose water stays a refreshing 68 degrees year round.

Lady Bird Lake Hike & Bike Trail

222 West Ave, Austin, TX 78701

Walk, run, or bike around the Lady Bird Lake trail, steps from downtown. Pick it up at the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge or wherever is convenient to you.

The Contemporary Austin - Laguna Gloria

3809 West 35th Street, Austin, TX 78703

Wander around the sculpture gardens at Laguna Gloria -- One of the spots where we took our engagement photos!

Mount Bonnell

Austin, TX 78731

After Laguna Gloria, pop up to Mount Bonnell and climb the stairs to see sweeping views of Lake Austin. If you're thirsty after, grab a glass of wine or slice of pizza from nearby Flo's, our favorite wine bar in the city

Texas Capitol

1100 Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78701

Stroll the halls of the Texas State Capitol building, a few blocks from the wedding venue and downtown. Free and open to the public.

Pease District Park

1100 Kingsbury Street, Austin, TX 78703

Spend an afternoon in one of our favorite parks in the city, Pease Park. Play on the playground, climb the treehouse, and visit with the giant troll sculpture. This was the second location for our engagement photos!

The University of Texas at Austin

201 W 21st St, Austin, TX 78705

Tour the campus of UT Austin, starting at Littlefield Fountain.

Austin Bats

Congress Avenue Bridge, S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704

See the 1.5 million bats fly out from under the Congress Avenue Bridge every night around sunset. Check the day's flight time prediction on the Austin Bat Refuge website

Blanton Museum of Art

200 East Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard, Austin, TX 78712

If the weather is crummy (knock on wood!), spend the afternoon wandering the galleries at the Blanton Art Museum.

Barbecue

No visit to Texas is complete without barbecue. Some top spots in the area are Terry Black's, La Barbecue, and Lambert's (for a sit down).

Tacos

Whether it's breakfast tacos at Veracruz or brisket tacos ("suadero" tacos) at Suerte, consider grabbing tacos while in town. (Veracruz is walk-up with long lines or an order ahead option; Suerte requires a reservation for a sit-down dinner).

Cocktails

For a swanky cocktail, try one of our favorite speakeasies and cocktail bars: Powder Room, Garage Bar, Here Nor There, Codependent, and Prélude (recommended to book ahead at any of these spots).

Mattie's

901 West Live Oak Street, Austin, TX 78704

Enjoy the southern cuisine, live oak trees, and roaming peacocks (!) at Mattie's for brunch or dinner (book ahead)

East Side Bar Crawl

Explore the east side of Austin through a bar crawl, stopping at Whisler's, Lefty's, Lazarus Brewing, Zilker Brewing, and Mama Dearest.

Lutie’s

4100 Red River Street, Austin, TX 78751

Grab a bite or drink on the terrace of Lutie's, a gorgeous spot at the stunning Commodore Perry Estate Hotel (reservations needed to sit inside, walk-in seating outside).
