When she was 14 and I was 15, Sam and I briefly met at my cousin’s—her best friend’s sister's—graduation party. Her and I shot each other glances, and then smiles, throughout the day and made brief conversation. She was brave enough to add me on Facebook later that night. After talking for hours, we went to sleep, and I think both of us realized there was no feasible way for us to make the distance work out as teenagers, and didn't pick the phone back up. Years later, I tried looking up more about the incredible girl I was talking to on Hinge when I realized we'd "known" each other for years. She had recognized me right away. She then told me that it's "Kinda embarrassing we’ve been friends for almost 10 years and you still haven’t asked me on a date." We set one up for that week and haven't looked back since.
